We Have a New Shepherd!

Ratzinger to be known as Benedict XVI

German cardinal elected new pope

VATICAN CITY (CNN) -- Wearing traditional papal robes and a large smile, Joseph Ratzinger of Germany appeared Tuesday on a Vatican balcony as the 265th pontiff, Benedict XVI, as tens of thousands gathered in St. Peter's Square to cheer him.

"Dear brothers and sisters, after our great pope, John Paul II, the cardinals have elected me, a simple, humble worker in God's vineyard," according to a translation of remarks he made in Italian. "I am consoled by the fact that the Lord knows how to work and how to act, even with insufficient tools, and I especially trust in your prayers.

"In the joy of the resurrected Lord, trustful of his permanent help, we go ahead, sure that God will help. And Mary, his most beloved mother, stands on our side."

He then delivered his first "Urbi at Orbi" ("for the city and for the world") papal blessing, after which the crowd in St. Peter's Square chanted, "Viva il papa," or "Long live the pope."
Benedict XVI will dine and spend Tuesday evening with the cardinals in their Santa Martia residence, said Vatican spokesman Joaquin Navarro-Valls.

He will give Mass in the Sistine Chapel at 9 a.m. (3 a.m. ET) Wednesday, Navarro-Valls said.
In Ratzinger's hometown of Traunstein, Germany, seminary students happily reacted to the news, according to The Associated Press. (Full story)

But not everyone was enthralled with the selection.

"It seems that he is too conservative. Hopefully the Holy Spirit can help him change," Jurandir Arauj of the National Conference of Bishops Afro-Brazilian Section told Reuters. (More reaction)

Powerful figure in Vatican.
Once the archbishop of Munich, Germany, and for many years prefect of the Sacred Congregation for the Doctrine of Faith, Ratzinger has been one of the most powerful men in the Vatican and is widely acknowledged as a leading theologian.

Ratzinger, who turned 78 on Saturday, was John Paul II's chief theological adviser for 20 years.
As a young priest he was on the progressive side of theological debates but shifted to the right after the student revolutions of 1968.

In the Vatican, he has been the driving force behind crackdowns on liberation theology, religious pluralism, challenges to traditional moral teachings on issues such as homosexuality, and dissent on such issues as women's ordination.

The dean of the College of Cardinals since November 2002, he was elevated to cardinal by Pope Paul VI in June 1977. (Profile)

On Tuesday, Cardinal Jorge Arturo Medina Estevez announced Benedict XVI's election in the traditional Latin, but he prefaced it by saying the words "brothers and sisters" in several languages, an introduction that is likely a bow to the universality of the Roman Catholic Church and its 1.1 billion members.

Warning against 'relativism'
There had been a great deal of speculation about who would be chosen to succeed John Paul II, who died April 2 at 84.

John Paul was widely credited with extending the reach of the papacy. He spoke more than a dozen languages and set an unprecedented pattern of pastoral travel, drawing huge crowds all over the world.

He was also strictly traditional on issues of sexuality and the role of women in the church, which won him support among some Catholics but alienated others. Similar disagreement exists over the next pontiff's stances on issues such as birth control, stem cell research and the ordination of female priests.

Benedict XVI, however, has been critical of progressive Catholicism. In a homily delivered at a Mass before the cardinals began the conclave Monday, he warned against "relativism, which is letting oneself be 'swept along by every wind of teaching.' [It] looks like the only attitude [acceptable] to today's standards. We are moving toward a dictatorship of relativism, which does not recognize anything as for certain and which has as its highest goal one's own ego and one's own desires."

White smoke, bells
White smoke rising from the Sistine Chapel chimney gave the first indication that the cardinals had chosen a pope.

The crowd clapped and waved flags as the smoke billowed over Vatican City about 5:50 p.m. (11:50 a.m. ET). Suspense built for the next 10 minutes as pilgrims waited for the ringing of bells -- at which point the onlookers let out a roar of jubilation.

Pope John Paul II had decreed that white smoke be accompanied by the ringing of bells, to avoid a repeat of the confusion after his election in 1978.

Chemicals were added to the ballots to turn the smoke white or black.

The conclave of 115 cardinals had voted three times previously -- once Monday night and twice Tuesday morning -- before selecting the new pope.

All the world knows that any Somali by birth, converted to another religion is only because the following reasons:
1- Ignorance about the real Islam. this means that this person has no knowledge about Islam at all except seeing mosques and people praying.
2- Ignorance about the other religion. in which he will turn a blind eye to know its reality since the aim about converting is as in number 3.
3- They convert just because of gaining economical wealth. And this forces them not to look and search the truth about ISLAM and ANY - I mean- Any other religion.
4-Most of them are just failures and drug addicts who need some where to fulfill their drug and Alcohol addiction.

I would then advice those to repent to ALLAH, The ALMIGHTY that even CIISAA worshiped. He needs no one, but everyone needs him. He has no equivalence and he can take his abusers in less than a second. It is just because giving his creatures more time to think about what they do, that makes him not to take immediate action against them. no one knows when the time of death is so continue one more year and then repent will not benefit when the time comes tomorrow or after tomorrow. It is not only the old people that die, children, teens and middle ages also die. Please for your own sake, ask Allah his forgiveness and repent to him.

I would also direct you to a knowledgeable Evangelists (use to be), who found the Islam to be the real religion and most of what was said about it as FALSE. Access Sue Watson’s – “Former pastor, missionary, professor. Master's degree in Divinity” report at: http://english.islamway.com/bindex.php?section=article&id=51 Sue says “for a week, by which time I had read twelve books and knew why Muslims are the hardest people in the world to convert to Christianity. Why? Because there is nothing to offer them!! (In Islam) There is a relationship with Allah, forgiveness of sins, salvation and promise of Eternal Life”.
May Allah guides you to what is good for you, and us to fulfilling our duties towards spreading his truth.

Dear Christian donors whom may be flattered by some Somali hungry persons think about what you fund and its suitability, I can tell you the above clarification is correct. These guys are not real Christians but they use your money for their own enjoyment. And you too look for the truth and don't think by spreading the bibles (many un like bibles!) and trinity believe you are on the right path. God is higher than to die, integrate with humans, or need to make any kind of sexual relationship with anyone, or create a son for himself!. Glorified he than that most people say he is.
Jesus (IISAA) is our profit and we can not be Muslims with out believing his profit hood, he had miracles but Allah provided him with all, as he provided other profits with miracles. Jesus was created by GOD (ALLAH) as Adam and Eve were created by GOD without biological parents and this didn't make them Gods. Men invented the trinity and you know it, and Men have no power to dictate Allah (the real GOD)who is who and who deserves what. please search the truth from its real sources. read the Qur'an (Kuran)and Profit Mohamed's correct Sayings. you may be able to get some web sites useful to assist you on this

http://sultan.org lists a very useful links for the Quran, religious compares, and misconceptions about Islam. http://63.175.194.25/index.php?dgn=4&ln=eng and WWW.ISLAMWAY.COM are also useful and there are hundreds of other websites that may explain Islam in its reality form so please search from any search-engine.

Finally even the Science confirms and agrees the Islamic believe and Sciences. Read http://www.muslimheritage.com/baas/

I conclude with this (Interpretation of the verse from the qur’an): “Verily, you (O Muhammad) guide not whom you like, but Allaah guides whom He wills” [al-Qasas 28:56]

Thanks for reading.

A word a typical Somali would love to hear is peace. Since most Somalis abroad, yearn for peace at all cost through peaceful means. Their desire is to rebuild, re invigorate Somalia for all Somalis regardless of ethnicity, linguistic diferences or tibal affiliation. What we need first is a crime free Mogadishu. A place where travellers like Ibn Batuta used to travel to. Imagine what he would think if he saw the Mogadishu today. When all the historical sites of our capital has been destroyed. It was our showcase to the rest of the world. What has war caused in Somalia? countless Somalis killed in action, deaths of children through preventable diseases, hunger, tribal conflict as i type now. As Somalis and as Muslims. We must realise that what we see today in our nation. Is that we all had a lack of our religion: Islam. The civil war was a wrath from Allah, in a nation where tribal rivalry continued throughout history. To ever achieve lasting peace. I advise all Somalis wherever they reside. Re educate yourself in the Quran. Buy a copy of a translation of the Quran, in the countless languages it has been translated into. We must block all the isms, schisms that they try to force feed us with. Atheism, darwinism, feminism, liberalism, marxism, secularism, tribalism or any other new isms that they come up with. All these isms and schism are incompatible with Islam. The desctruction of our nation resulted in:

1. Looting
2. Land confiscation
3. Killings
4. Rape
5. Loss of countless orphans to Christian Missionaries
6. Somali Christians in Europe and North America
7. Tribal bigotry
8. Suppression of minority groups
9. Militias who hold Somalis hostage everyday in their own country.
10. The Somali diaspora who yearn to return home one day.

As a Human rights activist for all Somalis who have been the victim of cirmes against humanity. At the same time being a Political Islamist, who is heavily influenced by the writings of Sayid Qutb, Imam Hassan Al Banna, Hassan Al Turabi, Rachid el Ganoucchi, Amr Khaled, Tariq Ramadan and other thinkers and Islamic personalities in the world today. To counter Missionaries who are losing thousands of adherents to Christianity every day, every month, every year. Somalis wherever they reside in today must realise, that we must counter these Neo conservative Evangelicals, Jehovah Witnesses, Mennonites that try to spread Christianity into a nation, that resisted Christianity, through unity of Somalis as they are a homogenous ethnic group, wherever they reside in Djibouti, Ethiopia or Kenya and the Diaspora. What amazes me further. Is that there are Somalis who try to spread Christianity from their Minisitries in Canada. They receive beers, swine, wine and funding. From the Barnabas fund, anti Islamic evangelicals of North America. The few that try to inflate a few hundred into Thousands. In a society that has become very Conservative post civil war Somalia. Shaikh Bur Barud and Somali Ulema have already given a fatwa, during the autumn of 2003. A Somali can become apostate. Upon their return to Somalia, Islamic Law would take precedence over Local Law or Laws written by Politicians. Return to Islam, the fastest growing religion in the world today. Inshallah Somalia will have peace and stabiltiy once we all read the meaning of the Quran, Hadith and follow Mohamed( pbuh) message of peace, social justice, elilmination of all isms and Schisms that have emerged after the Sahabah. Inshallah we will have peace once we all work together, Ameen ya Raab.

Can we initiate a dialogue of understanding with the Somali Christian Community in the Diaspora. I have tried but failed to initiate any meanigful discussion with the Somali Christian ministry in Toronto.

I have many cousin who received wines, sweets, gifts during the pre 1969 period in Islam. May Allah return you to Islam. The fastest growing religion in the world today. Issa ibna mariam is an important prophet in Islam. If you come to Somalia we will let you come to a mosque/masjid. But You can hide in North America/ Europe. Somalis have always been 100% Muslim. It is the religion of our oppressors. The Ethiopian Orthdox church/ Mennonites/ Jehohvah witnesses etc.

Return to Islam/ peace
