Kismayo, Somalia (HOL) - A local Sharia Court in Kismayo enforced a penal code today in Kismayo against a man accused of stealing possessions that are equivalent to $90.

The court convicted Mohamed Omar Ismael of the offence he committed and ordered his right hand  amputated.  The punishment was carried on Friday afternoon at Freedom Park (Beeerta Xuriyadda) opposite the headquarters of Kismayo District.

Thousands of local residents flocked to the scene to observe the event.  There was an apparent hubbub and rumbling noises from the crowd.  Security was tight and the local militia, known as Hizbada of Kismayo, were visible at the location.

This is not the first time that such criminal punishments are carried out in Kismayo. In the beginning of this year a similar sentence was carried on Yusuf Dhuhulow in the same site of the city.  The Islamic militia in Kismayo executed a number of other punishments since they took control of Kismayo.  It is not clear whether Mohamed Ismael stole for severe need or to prevent death in which case there may not be a penalty.

Brutal? This passage comes to mind:

"When men fight with one another and the wife of the one draws near to rescue her husband from the hand of him who is beating him and puts out her hand and seizes him by the private parts, then you shall cut off her hand. Your eye shall have no pity." (Deuteronomy 25:11-12, ESV)

Take a look at the knife used to slaughter Brother Mansuur. At the very least- same knife maker- at the most.....same knife....

This may seem brutal but a christan's also used to cut of the head of people who commit suicide. I just wondering if mutilating the dead is not brutal as well. At least he did not get electrified or given a lethal injection. I just stating that america electric's criminals thats not radical?

well muslim's did not cut off dead people's head i mean i am just correcting my above comment and imam's have the option to carry out the death prayer on the person that takes their own life. It is also sad that christan's believe that a child who dies before being baptised is in limbo, how can you say that jesus(peace be upon him) died for your sins when every child is born with the sin of adam and eve.In islam a baby has a blank-slate and is only judged when they know the difference between right and wrong therefore al-shabaabka are accounterable for their deeds right.

‘And no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another. And if a heavily laden soul calls [another] to [carry some of] its load, nothing of it will be carried, even if he should be a close relative. You can only warn those who fear their Lord unseen and have established prayer. And whoever purifies himself only purifies himself for [the benefit of] his soul. And to God is the [final] destination’ (Surah Fatir 35:18)

So therefore i am not accuntable for any muslim who does bad and neither are my sins to be burdened by another person. But if someone delibratly murder's another person then sins of the victim will be place to the murder. A bad is muslim considered worst then a kafir.

peace ;]from 17 year old muslim somali sister from london, iam not any way trying force my religion and do not appreciate you blaming the wrong actions of the minority to affect the way see people like the poor people dying in my homeland. What about the christan KKK of america were they acting in the name of christanity? please don't give us a bad name

ISLAM is not Terrorism

peace ;] trust me i do not hate christan people but like you i too believe my religion is the right religion and pray to be a better muslim. So when i correct myself i can help warn people. I also think that believing is not just enough as the devil also belives in good if don't have god in your life then you don't have a life.

sorry this is a long one byee abayo's and (how do say brother's in somali again lol)

Greetings to the Somali sister from London,

The mind, heart, and will of all humans is corrupt from birth. Even an infant is born with a corrupt mind, heart, and will, but it is not made manifest until they get older. The heart and will of mankind is inclined towards evil from birth. Nobody seeks after God, but God must seek them.

(Romans 3:10-12) None is righteous, no, not one; no one understands; no one seeks for God. All have turned aside; together they have become worthless; no one does good, not even one.

Anybody who observes toddlers interacting with other toddlers can see the corruption of their hearts. Most toddlers are naturally selfish. One of the first words children learn is "No." They use the word to rebel against the commands of adults.

I'm not sure where you learned that a child who dies before being baptized is in limbo, perhaps from the Roman Catholic or Eastern Orthodox traditions. Water baptism is not necessary for salvation. It is faith in Christ that saves.

The Bible does not teach exactly what happens to infants and toddlers who die, but the Bible teaches that God chooses whom to save and whom to leave in darkness. It is called the doctrine of unconditional election. Perhaps God has elected all children who die to be saved from God's wrath, or perhaps God has only elected some of them. Either way, there is no injustice with God.

I agree that Islam is not terrorism. There is a difference, however, between war and terrorism. Most mujahideen tend to commit acts of terrorism, but not all mujahideen are terrorist. Unfortunetly, I am not aware of any mujahideen which don't commit acts of terror. I'm not an expert on jihad, but I do know that there are times when Muslims are allowed to go to war with guns and bombs. Most mujahideen tend to go outside the boundaries that the Qur'an and Sunnah have laid.

The Bible teaches jihad also, but under the New Covenant our jihad is not against other people, but against the spiritual powers.

Ephesians 6:12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.

May God be gracious to you.

Greetings to Harun Hassan

I was the one who wrote the comment above and just want to say that a child/toddler is selfish. A child is selfish unintentionally where as an adult does. A child can be tought to behave in a particular way depending on their upbringing. So according to islam to islam a child is pure at heart until they learn to take up a particular view (when they know right from wrong).

The thing I don't understand that you are christan but why do you just put up articles about rebels such as al-shabaabka and al-qaeda.
Personally my religions content and teaching are more important than reporting about ignorant people who rape(al-shabaabka rape women in somalia) and this is something that most religion (maybe all religions i don't know) are against. So it is really hurtfull that you portray people like that but using articles for e.g.new york time that is know for prompting war with somalia.

I would like to correct myself i said *A bad is muslim considered worst then a kafir* i was wrong it a Mun'afiqeen is worst than a kafir.

By the way there are conditions for cutting a persons hand

The person must have stolen something valuable i.e in this a day and age probably like money etc

The person must have stolen from a secure place like a locked house or something

This punishment was not used during famine because it is understandable that people might steal to feed thier family so therefore if brother Mansuur had stolen from a unsecure place than the punish meant should not be carried out.If person was a con artist and stole from secure accounts then they would be jailed and maybe many years of thier lives go to waste where as if a person who has had their hand cut of will be able to live his or her life will be difficult but at least they will not waste periods of their life. They could maybe be with their family, muslim person should not steal but human do sin(not children but adults)so thats all I have to say. And brother Harun i would like to say that maybe you do not see my point that all this website seems to do is concentrate on people that are rebels that no longer have a cause, They wanted ethiopia out and know that they are out there is nothing for them, they are just cause the country more pain
peace ;]

Hello again,

I myself do not post anything on these sites, but things are posted that affect Christians. Al-Shabaab are enemies of the church for they seek out God's people to destroy them.

King David wrote the following:

(Psalm 51:5) Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me.

Also,

(Psalm 58:3) The wicked are estranged from the womb; they go astray from birth, speaking lies.

The Prophet Jeremiah spoke about the condition of the heart of mankind:

(Jeremiah 17:9) The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?

Nothing good dwells in mankind,

(Romans 7:18) For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh. For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out.

All who are not born-again by the Spirit are hostile to God:

(Romans 8:5-9) For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace. For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God’s law; indeed, it cannot. Those who are in the flesh cannot please God. You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you.

That's my final take on children. The scripture speaks for itself.

As for this website, perhaps they could spend some of the time posting Biblical teachings as well. But they do most of their work off the Internet.

One thing I want to point out is that just for Muslims to speak against the radicals and preach true Islam means very little to me. That doesn't stop the persecution of Christians. Muslims should do something about the radicals and stand up against them with the true teachings of Islam. Of course I know such things would result in violence against such Muslims by the radicals. Anybody who opposes radicals (including the general Muslim population) will be attacked.

When crowds of radicals stand outside of a court room chanting "death to infidel" or "death to the apostate" or what not, how many general Muslims will crowd out there and speak against the radicals? I haven't seen such a thing done. Radicals have a stronger voice than other Muslims. Radical crowds would chase the other Muslims away.

Truth is that even general Muslims persecute Christians. Muslims and Christians can't live at peace in nations under Sharia Law, unless one side or both sides compromise.

I'm not sure of your view on apostasy, but my view of apostasy based on Sahih Al-Bukhari is that apostates can lawfully be put to death for leaving Islam. That is not peace. And does not Sahih Al-Bukhari also forbid the spreading of other religions? Christians are commanded by God to preach the gospel in all nations, and to be arrested or what not for doing so is not living in peace.

Christians and Muslims outside of Islamic nations can live in perfect peace.

Well I just wanted to share that. Thanks for posting. Sorry if it is a long read for you, but I love writing (well, typing, I hate writing with my hand but I love typing with my fingers, lol)
