Dr. Osman Sheik Ahmed, a respected evangelist and a house church leader, was shot and killed on October 7th, 2005 in the Somali capital of Mogadishu. Dr. Osman’s house church confirmed to our office that Islamic militants were behind his assassination.
Somali Islamic hardliners had accelerated their persecution against the tiny Somali Christian church since 1994. It was during this time that several Somali Christians where martyred including the beloved church leader, Liibaan Ibraahim Hassan.
It was four months ago when Miss Ayaan Abdulqadir was arrested in Hargeisa, the capital of the break away Republic of Somaliland. Hargeisa authorities have accused Ayaan of converting Muslim women and children to the Christian Faith.
Miss Ayaan is a prominent evangelist in Somaliland and she still remains in Hargeisa Central Prison.
Sheik Hassan Dahir Aweys, a Somali Islamic terror leader, told Associated Press (AP) on October 12, 2005 that he was planning to set up an Islamic government for Somalia1. This is a very bad news for the peace loving world in general and for the Somali Church in particular.
