Exiled Somali Christian says attacks on AU troops linked to Sharia

An exiled Somali Christian leader has said attacks on African Union peacekeepers in the northeast African country are being made to pave the way for Islamic law, and he has warned that the attacks will continue, unless the international community intervenes, reports Ecumenical News International.

"They want to implement Sharia. They want foreigners out," John Ahmed Abukar, the chairperson of the tiny Somali Christian Community told Ecumenical News International. He was interviewed on 24 February in Nairobi where he has been in exile since 1991.
