Islamists threats local radios in Somalia

Friday, April 09, 2010 (HOL) - Hizbul Islam, the Somali hard-line group has threatened to shut down any local radio in Mogadishu that broadcast music and songs.



Moallim Hashi Mohamed Farah, a senior Hizbul Islam officer told the media on Friday inMogadishu that they will close any radio station in the country that broadcast music and songs.

"This order that we are stopping to broadcast music and songs from local radios in the county is not from Hizbul Islam or Al-Shabab or Al-Qaeda but its from Allah, and we can’t disobey” Moallim Hashi said o Friday.


“Local radios must stop playing music and songs with in 10 days, we will punish the radio which disobeys our orders.” Farah said on 3rd April.

The hard-line group is led by Sheikh Hassan Dahir Aweys, they are one of the main rebel groups in Mogadishu.
