Sayid Ali Omar “Tees", 52, died yesterday in the Wadajir District of Mogadishu. Sayid Ali became a disciple of Christ in 1997 while in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Sayid Ali was an evangelist in Dire Dawa, Eastern Ethiopia, and an elder in his house-church, which at the time met in Xaafad Ciise.
Sayid Ali has been serving in Mogadishu as the chief evangelist for Wadajir and Dharkaynley districts. Sayid Ali facilitated the establishments of a few thriving house-churches in these two districts.
A house-church pastor in northern Mogadishu described Sayid Ali “my spiritual father” because he was one of the believers who ministered to her 9 years ago.
House-church pastors in Hargeisa, Garowe, and Baydhaba sent their condolences to Somali Christians all over the world.
Sayid Ali escaped multiple assassination attempts on his life in the last 10 years while leading the evangelistic ministry of Wadajir and Dharkaynley districts.
